Government online learning platform SWAYAM has found out a plethora of free online courses to try to to its bit for the learners' community as schools and universities pack up amid the COVID 19 lockdown.

The two-and-a-half year old platform has created a repository of 1,900 courses available for college kids as they grapple with the worldwide pandemic. Students also are lapping it up. The courses across different streams that were made available last Friday (March 20) have already got 19,000 hits, says Parameswaran N, Advisor, Ministry of Human Resource Development

Made available under the tab 'Let Covid-19 not stop your learning', the courses are divided across five broad areas: engineering, non-engineering, NCERT textbooks, secondary and senior secondary courses and e-books for college students. It also has resources on areas like robotics, programming under the National Mission on Education through ICT.

"What is surprising to us is we are becoming interest from 63 countries. While quite 90 per cent of traffic is from India, we are seeing traffic from countries just like the US, Germany, UAE, Canada, Netherlands," says Parameswaran N.

Online classes, no doubt, provide students to catch abreast of the classes lost thanks to the prolonged lockdown as a results of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attending classes online without an opportunity is claimed to be causing problems like dry eye syndrome, burning sensation of eyes, and ear problems.

Educationists and doctors have their own reservations on online classes for primary classes. Doctors suggest use of laptops and external speakers, rather than earphones, to avoid eye and ear problems.

Prolonged use of earphones may result in noise-induced deafness. It also can cause tinnitus and therefore the child may experience ringing sounds within the ear. Severe exposure may cause inability to listen to certain frequencies. the issues depend upon the duration and intensity of the sound.

E-seminars, case-based discussion, journal clubs, discussion on surgical techniques; clinico- epidemiological presentations are often very effectively conducted using these virtual classrooms.

It is commonly accepted that the initial cost of an eLearning implementation is dear (once-off development cost), but that the value of coaching (per user) goes down exponentially as more learners use the eLearning course material.

The government has been touting online classes as a viable alternative, but unequal and patchy access to the web has meant the experience is vastly different counting on location and household income.

According to a National Sample Survey report, 90 lakh students studying within the country's government schools haven't any facility for online education. 24 percent of households are connected to the web through smartphones, and only 11 percent have a computer with an online connection, while things in rural India is worse.

We identify the simplest technology which will be applied to your requirements. Designing an eLearning solution may be a process that takes patience, experience and communication. our educational design experts work closely with you to know your specific needs. After we clearly understand your objectives, we create a strategic plan needed for many effective communication. Modules are designed after pin-pointing the training needs.

Along with several researchers, i'm engaging with families across the country who are sharing stories about how they're supporting their children with education needs while schools are closed.

The EdTech industry in India has had an adoption problem. Despite good initial traction, parents, teachers and students are still sceptical of adopting it on a huge scale. Most products have largely been wont to supplement regular lessons at college and that they never got the love they probably deserved. But when coronavirus forced schools to pack up , all that changed rather quickly.

In fact, as soon as India adopted a nationwide lockdown, EdTech platforms witnessed a surge in user registrations and website traffic. A study of the 35 top online learning platforms revealed that the segment saw a 26% increase in user visits between April 2019 and March 2020, compared to the year before.
